About the Age-Friendly Institute

Founded in 2019, the Age-Friendly Institute exists to help organizations improve their cultures, products, and services so that those in midlife can live, work, and age well.

Our mission is clear: to be a leading voice of, and connector to. older adults, translating their lived experience into practical guidance that drives better outcomes for employers, communities, health providers, and the people they serve.

Now part of the 55/Redefined group of brands, the Institute's work continues across every setting where age-inclusion matters: the workplace, the marketplace, the clinic, and the community.

The Certified Age Friendly Employer program identifies organizations committed to being the best places to work for mid-later career employees. Hundreds of leading companies and public institutions around the world have earned the designation, assessed by the Institute's HR, compensation and benefits analysts against established age-friendly best practices.

The advantage is measurable: in a 2022 survey of more than 550 older workers, 87% said they'd be more likely to stay with an employer known to be age-friendly, and 89% said they'd be more likely to choose or recommend one.
